 Every day, more people are giving up their conventional bifocals, single vision and PALs to see the world in Digital clarity. Digital Eye Lab is a fully automated spectacle lens laboratory 100% focused on the fabrication of Freeform Digitally surfaced backside PALs and single vision lenses. Every lens is engineered to account for the minutest variations in prescription, face measurements and frame measurements.
Digital Eye Lab worked with Satisloh to install a fully robotic Digital surfacing line. A Bosch smart conveyer system provided automatic job handling throughout the fabrication process. Bar code scanners located throughout the lab provide trackability, and help ensure patient orders are processed efficiently and quickly through the facility.
 Surface protection and alloy blocking are achieved using the Satisloh Auto-Taper and Auto-Blocker S. Each Freeform lens design is created on the VFT Ultra generator. This digital surfacing process is guided by up to 5000 cut points per lens surface. The result is a more customized complex surface created on the inside of the lens. In addition, this digitally created surface is accurate to .01D as compared to .12D in traditional surfacing. Freeform polishing is accomplished on a set of Auto-Flex polishers.
By eliminating all non-essential human lens handling Digital Eye Lab has drastically reduced the mistakes caused by human error, while increasing the overall consistency and quality in this Digital Freeform process. The most advanced AR coating, ClarisHD is applied with a Satisloh MC-380 chamber. A complete offering of finishing (edging and 3-piece mounting) and tinting services are also processed in-house.
